From 1993 onwards I began to experiment intensively with the wonderful instant image material of Polaroid , from which I developed my own style, which I called Polart. The images were created by manual processing of the SX-70 Polaroids, subsequent collage/montage and reproduction with transmitted and impinging light.

For a long time I was looking for a look similar to the Polart pictures, until I stumbled upon the extremely poor picture quality of my phone when I looked at the pictures enlarged. This resulted in the series "Beifang", which was shown as an exhibition in Zurich in 2020 and can now be viewed (and purchased) under "Editions" on this website. After the exhibition, I realized other series, including landscape shots that look like paintings.

You may think what you want from images that are generated with artificial intelligence. I found it exciting to experiment with it when the first beta versions were released. The results still amaze me today, even though AI has made incredible progress since then.

When the first full version of the AI Dall-E was available, I decided to realize a long-cherished project with it, the "Dance of the Death in Zurich". It was originally planned to be an elaborate production with dancers, actors and build sets, but I had to make both ends meet...
